From April 9, 2021, employees in Belgium are entitled to paid leave to attend a Covid vaccination appointment. Employees can be absent from work for the time necessary for the vaccination, taking the travel time to and from the vaccination center into account while maintaining their regular salary.

Employees can use the vaccination leave twice to receive their vaccinations from April 9 until December 31, 2021.

To be eligible for the vaccination leave, the employee must inform their employer as soon as possible of the time and date of their vaccination.  An employer may ask employees to provide proof of the appointment.

If an employee is absent from work due to possible side effects of the vaccine, they are not covered by this bill but instead by ordinary sick leave.
