Increase to the statutory minimum wage
From 1 January 2021, the new statutory minimum wage is €9.50 per hour. It is expected to increase again to EUR 9.60 on 1 July 2021.
The statutory minimum wage rule applies nationwide and for all employees in Germany, regardless of whether their employer is German or not.
Some industrial sectors currently have a higher minimum wage, which continues to apply for those individuals.
