Working Hours

General Working Hours

40 hours per week (broken down by 8 hours per day).

Overtime

Overtime should not exceed four hours each week and 2 hours daily. The wage given for overtime should be no less than 125% of the normal wage.

Leave

Paid Time Off

An employee will be entitled to 24 days (paid) off each year after 11 months of continuous employment. Employees are also entitled to 15 days of unpaid leave each year, however a minimum of 2 weeks notice is required.

Public Holidays

17 days.

Sick Days

Up to 30 days per year (full pay).

Maternity Leave

Mothers are entitled to at least 126 days of maternity leave, while receiving full pay (up to a maximum of 1,000 GEL). An additional 604 days of maternity leave is also granted for use at another time (unpaid).

Paternity Leave

The father can use up to 57 days of the mothers maternity leave (put through under childcare leave).

Parental Leave

Up to 57 days can be taken from maternity leave and put through under childcare leave used by either the mother or father.

Termination

Termination Process

A written notice is required, along with reasonable cause for dismissal.

Notice Period

30 days, for both employee and employer.

Severance Pay

Employees are entitled to a minimum of one months salary.

Probation Period

No longer than 6 months.

Visa

Employment Visa

There are several different visas available for differnet situations, these are as follows:

  • Immigration Visa – Type D-1 – For individuals who wish to work in Georgia for over a year.
  • Immigration Visa – Type D-2 – For freelancers.

People who wish to work should request a long-term visa, which functions as a work permit, along with a residence permit.
