Employees are entitled to 20 days off each year at a minimum.

21 days paid sick leave per year.

Maternity Leave

A pregnant employee is entitled to 12 weeks (paid) maternity leave, this should be split into 6 weeks before and after the child has been born.

This will be paid at their regular wage once the employee has been employed with that employer for at least a year.

Paternity Leave

5 days of paternity leave.

Other Leave

Vacation, casual and adoption leave are also possible for employees.

Termination

Termination Process

The termination process requires either a written or verbal notice. This notice depends on the length of time the employee has been employed. More than three years of service will entitle the employee to a minimum of three months notice.

Any length of time less than this will entitle the employee to be notified at least one pay interval in advance.

Notice Period

Employees must give at least 30 days notice when handing in their notice.

Severance Pay

Severance pay in Mauritius depends on the length of service an employee has undergone.

Probation Period

The probationary period generally lasts between three and six months.
