There are no provisions in the law regarding 13th salaries.

40 hours per week.


Overtime must be accepted by both parties, it should not exceed 4 hours in 2 consecutive days or more than 120 hours per year. Overtime should be paid at a rate of at least 150% of the employee’s regular wage.

24 days of annual leave per year.

Public Holidays

10 public holidays.

Sick Days

There are no statutory laws regarding sick leave, however employees are entitled to 14 days of unpaid leave each year to care for sick immediate family members.

Maternity Leave

140 days of fully paid maternity leave, 70 days before and after the birth.

Paternity Leave

There are no statutory laws for paternity leave.

Parental Leave

The mother or father can take unpaid leave for a child before they turn three years old.

Termination Process

An employer can only terminate an employee because of the needs of the business or for employee misconduct. The employer must provide notice to the employee in advance of dismissal. The notice period is 1 – 2 months depending on the reason for dismissal.

Notice Period

Up to 2 months, depending on the length of their employment.

Severance Pay

The minimum severance payment is 3 months of the employee’s average monthly salary.

Probation Period

Up to 6 months.


Employment Visa

Any foreign citizen who plans to live and work in Tajikistan will need to obtain a working visa, foreign employees will also need to obtain a work permit before they can officially begin their job.
